What this guide covers

  • Checklist design principles
  • Observable wording examples
  • Review prompts

Designed for: Venue Managers, Duty Managers, Department leaders.

01

Start with the operating outcome

Define what ready for service looks like before writing individual tasks. Group the result into presentation, stock, equipment, bookings and handover.

02

Make every item observable

Use instructions a manager can verify. Replace ‘check bar’ with ‘confirm all service wells are stocked to the agreed par level’.

03

Order the work like a shift

Place tasks in the sequence staff naturally perform them. A checklist should reduce movement and decisions, not add them.

04

Separate exceptions from routine

Use notes and flags for problems. Keep the standard checklist short enough to complete every day.

05

Review the submission

Look for repeated incomplete items and flags. They are signals that the process, resourcing or checklist wording needs attention.

A practical note

Adapt every process to your venue, applicable law, licence conditions and internal policies. HospoTek resources are operational guidance, not legal advice.
